Question: What are some effective techniques to lose/turn belly fat into firm flat abs? How much time is required to visible gain results in a 3 month period? - Amy Boyd, North Carolina A&T State University
Answer: 3 months is a great time frame for goal setting! To lose belly fat the key is cardio and losing weight. In order to see those muscles that lie under the belly fat you need to lose pounds. I would recommend 45 minutes of cardio most days of the week at a moderate to high intensity (intervals are great fat burning workouts!). Also make sure you are working within your target heart rate range. At the same time do a well rounded abdominal routine every other day. This abdominal routine won’t necessarily “turn” that belly fat into flat abs, but it will firm up and strengthen the abs while you continue to work on losing the belly fat that is covering the abs! In 3 months time if you are eating right and working out you could expect to lose a pound or two each week for the entire 3 months which translates to 12 to 24 pounds of weight loss. This will definitely help you on your path to firmer leaner abs!
